An Attachment Therapist Is Ideal For

Hey there! I’m Julia.

Hi, I’m Julia, and I’m an attachment therapist in Las Vegas, specializing in helping children and parents work on healing their relationships and promoting attachment security.  The Circle of Security® is an attachment-based intervention that focuses primarily on working with parents, but it’s not your typical parenting program. Together, we’ll talk about attachment theory with a user-friendly map, and you’ll develop amazing parenting skills you didn’t even know you needed!

One of the most important factors of success with the Circle of Security® is helping parents feel validated and deeply supported, without minimizing the real challenges parents face with their children and teens every day.  Enhancing your relationship with your child is a team effort - it takes a village.

If a community values its children, it must cherish the parents. - John Bowlby, MD

John Bowlby, the founder of attachment theory, and Mary Ainsworth, the creator of the Strange Situation Procedure, were trailblazers in the field of developmental psychology. Not long ago, they helped to change the perspective that if parents “spare the rod” they risk “spoiling the child.” Similarly, parents often heard doctors tell them not to pick up their child when they were crying, as it would cause dependency issues. Using the Circle of Security®, we’ll explore why these methods didn’t work, and how we can reprogram ourselves to be better parents for the next generation.

How To Get Started

Attachment Therapy FAQs

Who Can Benefit from This Intervention?

The Circle of Security® was originally designed for parents and caregivers of children aged 0-5, but its principles can be applied to older children and teens, too. In my work with parents of teenagers, I’ve seen parents understand their child in a way they never thought possible.

How Long Does the Circle of Security® Intervention Last?

The standard Circle of Security® program usually lasts for 8-20 weeks, depending on the specific needs of the family. As with other therapy approaches, our work is tailored to where you started, where you are now, and where you’d like to be.

Is the Program Only for Parents?

Attachment-based interventions are beneficial for all caregivers, including grandparents and other significant adults in the child's life.

The Circle® is especially helpful for foster and adoptive parents who may not know the needs of their child when they are placed with their family.

Teachers and other professionals can receive training in the Circle of Security® and attachment-based interventions, too! If your school, district, or agency is interested in training staff in the principles of the Circle®, contact us to learn more.
